Savvy Scupture
Learn from the masters, create your own
Service Description
Savvy Sculpture is a hands-on art series where children explore the techniques of world-renowned sculptors and then create their own inspired works. Over three weeks, they’ll experiment with different materials, forms, and ideas — developing creativity, confidence, and an appreciation for how artists bring sculptures to life. Week 1: Alberto Giacometti – Figures in Motion Discover the striking, elongated forms of Alberto Giacometti, one of the 20th century’s most iconic sculptors. Children will learn how Giacometti captured movement and emotion in his work, before creating their own expressive figures using wire, clay, and mixed materials. Week 2: Aline Houdé – Organic Forms and Texture Step into the world of Aline Houdé, where sculpture meets nature. Inspired by her use of organic shapes and textured surfaces, children will experiment with natural and recycled materials to build their own tactile sculptures, exploring how form and surface work together to tell a story. Week 3: Joseph Cornell – Assemblage and Storytelling Uncover the imaginative world of Joseph Cornell, known for his magical shadow boxes and assemblage art. Children will design their own box-based sculptures, combining found objects and personal treasures to create miniature worlds filled with narrative and wonder.
