Service Description

A creative approach to character design using words, structure, and form. In this session, participants explore how letterforms can be used as the foundation for character design. Beginning with experimental warm-up exercises, they’ll investigate how names, words, and shapes can be transformed into visual ideas. Guided by illustrator Yen Ip, participants develop their designs by refining proportion, structure, and line work—moving from initial concept through to a more considered and developed character. In this session, participants will: Explore character design through structure, form, and typography Develop drawing techniques using guides, proportion, and refinement Experiment with turning abstract ideas into visual outcomes Build confidence in creating original and considered designs Designed to feel: Calm and focused Structured, with space for individual exploration Supportive and accessible for a range of abilities No prior experience needed.
